Size

A three-sided sofa bed with a raised armrest running around the back and sides, and an open front. The cover comes off for washing.

Dogs that sleep pressed against something — a wall, the edge of a couch, your leg — settle faster on a bed with sides. The open front matters too: an older dog never has to climb over a rim to get in.

Sizes

Small — 50 × 40 × 15cm
Medium — 75 × 50 × 16cm
Large — 105 × 75 × 20cm

These are external dimensions: the footprint on your floor. On a bed with sides, the usable sleeping area inside the armrest is smaller than the outside measurement suggests.

Before you order

Measure your dog lying stretched out on their side, from the nose to the base of the tail — not the tip. Add 15cm if they curl up to sleep, 30cm if they sprawl.

We are specific about this because the industry is not. Different retailers measure from different points, and the gap between two conventions can be 20cm on a large dog. It is the most common reason a bed arrives too small.

Our method

The size on the box is not the space your dog gets.

External footprint
Usable sleeping area
Entry height

Most listings give the outside of the bed. That number includes the bolster, which your dog cannot lie on.

We publish the external footprint in centimetres and tell you where the rim eats into it. We are measuring the internal area and will publish it as it is confirmed.

Plain language

“Orthopaedic” is not a regulated word.

Supportive foam baseHolds its shape under weight. Returns when your dog gets up.
Loose polyester fillMigrates to the edges within weeks, leaving a hollow where the weight goes.

Anyone can print the word on a bag of polyester fill.

We publish what each bed is made of rather than just the word. We don’t claim a bed treats anything — that’s a question for your vet.

What we don’t know yet

Density is the number that predicts flattening.

Foam densityNot yet published

It is also the one most stores never print. We are collecting verified figures with test reports from our manufacturers.

Until a figure is evidenced we will not print it. An unsupported number is worth less than an honest gap.

How this bed compares

Every line below is something we do or don't do. None of it is a claim about what a bed does to your dog.
